My passion is psychology.
I discovered my passion for psychology when I went to my cousin's teen psychology sessions. My cousin has a major in sociology and in her sessions, she would explain the different types of reactions that we humans have when it comes to certain situations. Like when a person gets really scared they either scream, stand still, or even faint away. She mentioned the different parts of our brains that make us feel the way we feel. We all have different thoughts and different emotions when it comes to certain situations but I always wondered. Why does our brain trigger different types of actions when it comes to certain situations? People even take medicine to control their depression or symptoms that would cause an unusual reaction. Like a person having a bipolar disorder or having the psychological drama that they're dealing in their daily lives.
Attending Washington University in St. Louis Philosophy, Neuroscience, and Psychology Institute will help me pursue my passion of psychology by taking a college class and having a college experience. Attending Washington University will give me the opportunity to experience life as a college student and pushing my love of learning like never before. I will get to communicate with a college professor and a create a new bond with new friends. My interest and knowledge of psychology will expand to new heights. Psychology can open up many careers for me because there is more than one type of psychology. Like community psychology, counseling psychology, forensic psychology, and health psychology. The human mind is full of mystery and I would like to know how different mindsets affect who we are as people. We each think in our own unique way and have different aspects to certain things.
Eugenio is a perfect candidate for Washington University in St. Louis Philosophy, Neuroscience and Psychology Institute because he truely has a passion for psychology. More importantly he has a passion for attending college. I think this experience will give him the motivation he needs to push through those tough study nights. Also, I believe this program could give Eugenio a sense of belonging in a college atmosphere. Through this program, I believe he will see how amazing college is.
