My passion is Story telling..
Story time. I promise to keep it fairly short. I got my first computer for Christmas one year. As I was aimlessly browsing the internet, I came across this writing community. I had always been fond of reading, and much like many writers that's where it all began. That aside, the spark was lit during a co-co written story. It was short, and it's authors were barely 13. It's grammar was horrendous, and if I still had access to it, I'd cringe. Regardless, that's where it started. A random click or two, and I was gently nudged onto a path where writing was not only enjoyable but an escape from a then bad chapter in my life. Till this day I visit that site, and continue to co write stories of all kinds.
While I've met writers over the internet, I've met few in person. I feel that by being accepted to Centenary Summer Scholar's: Writer's Workshop, I'll be taking a step beyond the non-physical. I'd be in a room full of writers where the sort of conversation that I crave will fill the room. Aside from the enormous commonality of it all, it'd offer the plainly obvious; a chance at intellectual and cultural pursuit. Opinions and strong suits will clash; ideas will be exchanged and shared and I simply find it all very breath taking.
"Destiny is an intellectually gifted, infinitely curious young woman. She is a voracious reader, and when confident, a gifted speaker and writer. Her presence at the Boston University program would be a huge boon to her in that she desires the type of mentorship, training and inspiration time spent on an elite college campus can provide. Destiny has one motivation right now, which is writing, and it helps her manage what in someways is a quite stressful life. Her writing talents are considerable and could very well point towards not just a passion but a career. Yet they are raw and need in-depth workshopping and exposure to the skill and interests of a wider range of influencers."
Hey, Supporters! Just wanted to update you - right now I'm sitting with my advocate, Matt Brown and making the final preparations for my trip. I'm so excited and thankful for the chance to attend Centenary Summer Scholars. I can't wait to update you once I've finally made it to my program. Thank you!
