My passion is government and public policy.
I discovered my passion because I have always been fascinated with the different types of governments that are operating all over the world. Despite their differences, they all have universal goal, which is to help their people. The first time I fell in love with the idea of public policy was when I heard about the United Nations in history class. I was fascinated with the idea that a small number of people were able to create a universal doctrine that fights to protect many different people's human rights. Since, then I have told myself that if I worked hard and if I stayed focus I would be one of the leaders helping change the world.
Hassatou is a good candidate for Harvard Pre-College Program because she deserves to experience and learn about issues in contemporary society. While Hadsatou is in an AP US history course at UCC, Harvard Pre-College Program will push her interest in government and public policy in a way that an AP class at UCC will not. Hassatou's interest in race relations are showcased in my AP English class all of the time. Hassatou's interest in government and public policy come from a very genuine place. She is always passionate about discussing race relations and I know that Harvard Pre-College Program will give her a lifetime experience and a lot of knowledge on topics she is vastly interested in.
I am very excited to be able to go to the Harvard Pre-College Summer program for two weeks because while I am there I will be able to learn more about government structures and how governments are established. In school I am not able to learn a lot about foreign governments and why they are created this way but this program will give me this opportunity.
By participating in this program it will help me to work together with kids my age and to be exposed to a different environment. I will be able to learn more about myself and to see whether or not I will want to major in government in college.
