My passion is musical theater.
I discovered I had some sort of singing potential around first grade, but before that I always loved music. Around 3rd grade, I was in my first school play and I discovered a love of acting, especially when I discovered voice acting - I preferred cartoons over live action shows as a younger child and still somewhat do. But I never thought I could do both until I discovered musical theater. There was a way I could sing and act at the same time!
Attending US Performing Arts Musical Theater will allow me to understand the environment of a college campus for the future. I would also be able to establish more connections with well-trained and well-known people so when the time comes for auditions and getting work, these people could be of help to me to get jobs and roles.
I first met Catherine when she was in my Acting 1 class. Even as a freshman, she felt that the craft of acting spoke to her as an artist and as a young person forging through high school. It was my privilege to mentor her through this process. Catherine is an enthusiastic and imaginative person, continually looking for opportunities to develop and share her ideas, observations, questions, discoveries and dilemmas.
Hello! I just wanted to say thank you from the bottom of my heart for this experience. This was a fantastic experience that taught me a lot as a performer and as a growing person. I feel as though I have gained more resources for help in the future once I begin pursuing a career, and have learned many new things. I also was given lots of freedom to explore Amherst and still have fun at times. My time-management skills were put to the test with a long, continuous schedule of practices and I still managed to get time to make new friends. Overall, it was a positive experience and I recommend anyone who wishes to pursue MT or acting to go to this camp.
Hello All Who Donated.First of all I wanted to say thank you for donating again. So just a quick update. Currently I just had a master class with Jessica Lee Goldyn (who was Val in the Broadway Revival of A Chorus Line, among many other shows). I am also going to be taking a 3 day trip to NYC with my department from the 19th-21st. We will be seeing Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, Bandstand, and Miss Saigon (where an alumni from our school is currently in the ensemble). I have a new song that I may plan to present at the camp in July, and am in the process of getting a monologue ready for my juries (finals for arts classes here at my school) that I may use as well. But I am prepping myself for this trip and my advocate Deb Walsh had me and another Wishbone goer talk to our department about the program and what we're doing. Thank you so much again everyone for all the support, and I hope this program goes well!
