Stephen's Story

My passion is performing arts.

Singing has been my passion ever since I was a child. When I was around the age of three, I sang my first solo at my pre-school graduation. Since that moment, my mom made me sing on the church choir, and I have developed a love for music. To continue with my love for music, I auditioned for a gospel choir called Gospel for Teens in Harlem, New York and have been participating in their program to this day. Music has impacted my life to the point where it is something that I want to make sure that I continue in my near future.

My passion for singing will be developed at SOCAPA Summer Music Camp because I will be able to leave with more knowledge about how to expand my singing abilities. I want to become better musically inclined and I also want to learn how to stretch my voice the healthy way. I strongly believe that this program will help me achieve this dream of mine.

"I think the SOCAPA Summer Music Camp would represent a fantastic chance for Stephen to be amongst like-minded peers, but more importantly, a chance for him to learn and grow as a performer. We have no music program at our school, and best that I can tell, Stephen only has full access to his passion when he's at church. Going to a Music Camp would be a chance for Stephen to show where's coming from while also developing his voice even more--and maybe even picking up a new instrument!"
