My passion is engineering.
The BlueStamp Engineering program gives students the opportunity to bring their projects to life. Without the help of any teachers or advisers, the students spend time building the projects that they selected on their own. If they are stuck, there will be help provided, but most of it will be individual. For me, this sounds like the perfect program. A place where the instructors give you freedom to struggle on your own. I’m excited to be provided with the tools and materials to build anything. It is the beginning of what could become a major in college and a future job after school. That is why I want to attend BlueStamp - to gain the experience of what it is to build something and to be able to say that I made it myself.
"The curiosity that Oscar consistently shows in class is of high quality; he looks for opportunities to make connections between things he learns and to ask the harder and deeper questions about why life works the way it does. He does all of this on top of having to take multiple buses just to get to school each day. But, he would never mention these hardships without being asked about it - for Oscar, these are just small hurdles to jump.
Oscar absolutely loves engineering. He would take this program incredibly seriously as an opportunity to better understand the world and the subject he's passionate about. Oscar has such an excellent attitude and work ethic that I could see him making the connections to eventually intern with some of the folks he meets in settings like these."
First of all, I want to thank everyone who made this summer possible, I couldn't have done it without your help. Being part of the Blue Stamp Engineering program was one of the best experiences of my life. This is my first time joining a summer program, and I can say that it was worth it. I learned multiple subjects within engineering and programming. We used tools as big as a drill to small as a screw driver. However, the hardest part of all was the coding it self.
For example, my first project (they named it our Starter Project) was easy to build. We used a solder machine to solder the pins into a microchip. A pin is used to hold in the resistors (conductors of energy) with metal that eventually makes the energy travel without failing. Once we put everything together, we then used a program to make it work, but it took longer for the coding to work correctly. Eventually, I got it working then moved on to my main project. I built an 8v8 LED box display. The box again was easy to make, but the Aurdino (a coding program) was hard to manage. If it wasn't for Fred, Omer, and the rest of the instructor's guidance, I couldn't have done it successfully.
Overall, I learned new information about coding and programming that I never thought I would be able to learn in two weeks. Once again thank you for this opportunity.
I've spend most of my summers at home. BlueStamp Engineering Program is going to be my first time attending a summer program. I am really excited to be able to participate in BlueStamp, and being able to gain experience that will benefit me in the future. This program will teach me to build projects individually and find resources on my own. There will be supervisors that will help us students, but most of the work will be done individually. I am truly thankful for having this opportunity. I can't wait to start.
Keep it up Oscar! Engineering and math are awesome!
Have a wonderful experience in the program
Wishing you all the best, Oscar! You are going to do great things!
Go Oscar! I hope you have a blast -- and learn a bunch -- in this program. You and Mr. Flax are lucky to have each other :)
Go, Oscar, go!
Mitch is a friend from college who is one of the kindest people I know. If he believes in you and your ability, you must truly be remarkable. Never stop advocating for what will make you a better person and fuel your intellectual curiosity.
It was a summer program that turned me on to engineering and changed my life. I hope that Oscar has a wonderful learning experience, even if he doesn't end up in engineering.
