My passion is Liberal Arts.
I’ve enjoyed writing since a very young age. I like to put together pieces for other people to read, be it creative writing work or an academic essay. Now that I’m in my third year of high school, my humanitarian side has really started to shine. My interest in history, politics, and social activism has increased greatly. This desire has overflowed through work I’ve done in classes, and even some heavier verbal discussions. I realize I care so much about empathy and truth. I believe it’s important to address issues in our communities, regardless of the scale - local or global. In addition to reporting problematic news, I also believe in spreading positive stories. People should acknowledge that while the world isn’t perfect, there are good people out there doing good things, and I want to inspire readers to educate themselves, and then let their knowledge influence their daily choices.
Natasha is a tremendous student, thinker and humanitarian. She does exemplary work in all of her classes, and frequently coaches others as well. She takes full advantage of every opportunity to pursue her passions. She was chosen by Evolutions to participate in the Youth Undoing Racism workshops at the People's Institute this past weekend. She is also a member of our school's Facing History & Ourselves Advisory Council and has helped plan Narrative 4 storytelling lessons with me and her Literature teacher.
I will be taking the "Creative Disobedience: Spoken Protest as Public Art" course, this summer, at Brown University. I am beyond ecstatic. This opportunity will be the highlight of my vacation break, and perhaps the highlight of my Junior year. I will be able to enrich my writing skills, practice my public speaking skills, reinforce my comprehension skills as we analyze complex texts and speeches, and also express myself artistically through a solo performance! This year, I have grown a passion for social activism and have always loved spoken word, so this program will really help nurture these interests of mine.
I hope to be propelled into the life of a prospective college student, to meet new people so that my peers and I can work towards our brighter futures embellished with our personal ambitions, and to gain insight into areas of study that I naturally gravitate towards but don’t get to fully engage with often enough. I want to study how people in the past used their voices to spark positive, powerful change in society, so that I can one day do the same with my own small voice.

You were a remarkable student in sixth grade, Lord only knows what you will become. Remember, when someone tells you you can't do something, use that as your motivation to get it done, and remember that there are more people that think you can!!!!
