Samantha's Story

My passion is criminology.

I am passionate about criminology because since I was young I was always interested in solving criminal cases. I like to help people, and solving cases would be helping people in a major way. I also knew I wanted to do this for the rest of my life because I would watch shows like Criminal Minds, Cold blood, Unsolved murder cases and all these shows dealt with solving cases and how they use evidence or study human behavior to solve the cases. Watching these shows excites me because I know that some day I will be doing that and helping people which is two important things I believe in and will always want to do.

This is something I am truly passionate about, and I know this is what I want to do for the rest of my life. Attending this program will let me really confirm to myself that criminology is something I want to do in my life.

"Within the first week of meeting Samantha in the 9th grade, it was evident that she was a motivated young lady with a ton of drive. Samantha never took a back seat in class. In fact, she often became the “second teacher” and explained unclear concepts to her peers.

I really want to see Samantha use the drive and determination she has in school outside of school. She has so much potential to thrive in any environment. With college around the corner, I think Samantha's participation in the Centenary Summer Scholars program will shine a new light on opportunities outside of her home in the South Bronx."

I want to give thanks to everyone who donated and supported me. With your help I'm able to attend the forensics program at Centenary College and I couldn't thank you enough. I can't wait to attend this program because it's something I'm really interested in and I know I'm going to have a great time and learn so much. Thank You. I'm so excited I can't wait!!!!!!
