Donia's Story

My passion is soccer. I discovered my passion for soccer when my father used to encourage me as a child to become a national professional soccer player. He would spend so much time with me to help me succeed in the future. I remember he would push me to practice my mistakes until I was comfortable with overcoming them -- I learned to persevere. As I got older, my interest in athleticism deepened and I developed in other sports. To this day, my father expects me to continue with my soccer career and encourages me to support and inspire other young and upcoming athletes in the school’s programs; they look to me for help, encouragement, and leadership. Soccer has been a big part of my life, I enjoy playing it, and I enjoy even more what it represents in terms of teamwork, achievement, and helping and encouraging other student athletes.

Attending US Sports Nike Soccer Camps would improve my soccer skills, especially in terms of my thinking about strategy and tactics, as well as in improving my techniques. I currently play on the varsity soccer team at Platt High School in Meriden, CT, and have done so for the past two years. As a junior, I still have one season to play here in Meriden, and maybe in college as well. Attending this camp will help me be a better contributor to my own and my teammates' success, as well as giving me the chance to be outdoors, playing a sport I thoroughly enjoy. The skills I learn at US Sports Nike Soccer Camps will hopefully be ones that I can pass on to younger friends and team members, and maybe even can help me be a coach or volunteer one day to young students who are in my position now.
