Aaliyah's Story

My passion is nursing.

I have wanted to be a nurse since I was a child. My mother works in the medical field. I have always looked up to her and the work she does. I find it interesting because you get to work at a hospital and help sick patients. When you leave the hospital, you know that what you have done will benefit the world. You can help one sick patient at a time and that patient will get to live a better life. This is why I want to be a nurse.

A Note from Ms. Algoo, Aaliyah's Teacher

Considering her passion for nursing, the Centenary Summer Scholars program will allow Aaliyah to be exposed to this field very early on in her high school career. It will allow her to gain experience that she can then apply to other internships after this. It could also guide the science courses she takes in school, the volunteer opportunities she takes on, and will enrich her high school experience overall. The nursing program at Centenary Summer Scholars will light a fuel for Aaliyah, and considering how driven she is on her own already, she will be able to learn a lot from this program.
