The topic that I studied while attending St. Rose Pre-College experience in Albany, New York was all surrounding music. I had the opportunity to study Vocal, Composition, Theory, Jazz and Opera. It was a lot of hard work but it was such a valuable learning experience. 


There were a number of specific events that happened at the program that had a significant impact on me; such as when I was performing a Jazz piece, I learned how every instrument has such a critical role in making a song come alive. I learned that there are so many facets of jazz that are incredibly fascinating. The Jazz instructor was very encouraging but pushed me in a positive way to give it my all, and that is what I gave. The counselors at this program were very encouraging and generous. They made the stay so comfortable.

Attending this program has influenced my plans to apply to the College of Saint Rose. When the time comes I would love to apply and hopefully attend the College. I thought I knew everything about music but I was enlightened in a number of ways of how I wasn’t. When I returned home, it inspired me to communicate with my high school teacher on ways to better prepare to attend a good college that offers music.

I have and will continue to recommend this program to others. The one advice that I would offer other students attending this program in the future is to be very open minded about learning new things and really give the program full attention and focus. I can’t explain how much I really learned, it was such an eye opener and awesome opportunity, one I will always appreciate. I would once again like to thank my Wishbone supporters for allowing me the opportunity to attend this awesome program. I feel inspired and extremely motivated from this experience. I believe this program has helped me to decide what I will study in college. Again, I would like to thank the sponsors and everyone associated with giving me this incredible opportunity.

I’m most excited about traveling to New York independently and meeting other students. I feel very privileged to attend the Saint Rose Music Program. The goals that I have set for myself while attending the music program are to stay committed to learning as much as I can that will add to my journey to college.
I am most nervous and excited about not knowing what to expect. I believe being away from home is probably my largest down-played nervousness. The challenge I might face during the program is not knowing the specific curriculums that will be set.  Sometimes it can be challenging meeting or exceeding the instructors’ expectations as well. However, I plan to work hard in this program to get a good pre-college experience. I know this will be one of the greatest things I have ever done.
