Tamara's Story

My passion is psychology.

I started to realize my passion of psychology at 12 years old. While in health class, I learned that there are many human behaviors that are sometimes caused by mental disorders. This sparked my interest, so I began to read about the human mind and how it functions on the internet and through books. This program will give the opportunity to learn more about my passion.

A Note from Ms. Eisenberg, Tamara's Mentor

Since Tamara has started our school she has made a point to be an active member of the school community. We have a requirement that students have to do 25 hours of community service a year. In December, she was already close to 50 hours. Tamara is a students who wants to do well and is eager to try new things. Participation in this program would allow her to explore her interests in psychology. I am confident she would take the knowledge she learned this summer and apply it to her continued success in school.

Centenary College

Being able to attend this program was a great opportunity. In the beginning, I was nervous. However, I was able to make many friends. I learned many things in my psychology class and was able to dissect a sheep's brain. Coming back from this program, I knew I would like to do something like this again. I am grateful for those who had donated and made this possible.

Centenary Summer Scholars

This is a great opportunity that I am glad to have. Centenary Summer Scholars will provide me with the course that I wanted, which is the Introduction to Psychology. Without the donations I wouldn't be able to attend Centenary Summer Scholars and I want to thank those who donated. Centenary Summer Scholars will be great for me to learn about psychology and I can't wait to get there.
