My passion is basketball.
I discovered my passion for basketball when I realized it helped me gain friends. When I first transferred to my school, I used basketball as a way to make friends. I was reserved, but when I stepped on the court that changed. It's an escape for me. Whenever I'm stressed out or mad I can go to the park and get some shots up or play with friends. It will automatically change my mood. Also, basketball integrates people of different races and gender. No matter what your race, religion or gender is I have my teammate's back. It puts me in a place of total control, me being good or bad at basketball is determined by me and my work ethic. I enjoy being able to see how effort and practice can directly improve my performance. This has helped to motivate me in other areas such as school.
Richard was a student in my writing elective, and he absolutely shined. A cool young man, I was surprised when he was willing to share a thoughtfully emotional piece so early in the year. When he concluded it and was asked to reflect, he said, "next time, I hope I can be even more vulnerable." I have been impressed with Richard since I met him.
Richard gives his all to everything he does. I have no doubt that this would be true of US Sports Nike Basketball Camps. Richard will benefit from participating because he will hone his skills and create strong bonds with other participants. By both demonstrating his own dedication to the sport and by supporting others he will not only benefit, others will benefit from his presence, too.
Thank you so much for supporting me to reach my goal of attending the Nike Summer Basketball Camps! I am so excited to be able to take part in this program and grow as an athlete and as a person.
Hard work pays off. Keep pushing yourself.
