My passion is nature.
In my World History class we have learned about the way urbanized cities came to be, and the way our land was before Industrialization. This made me open my eyes and realize that there's a whole different world, a good world, that is nothing more than the beautiful untouched land that we are rapidly losing. Exploring different areas and being exposed to new challenges would be an absolute life changer, especially being around new people whom i would have to collaborate and escape my comfort zone.
Outward Bound California will give me an opportunity to get away from the city's fast paced lifestyle and allow me to reflect by myself while hiking and collaborating with new people. I have always fantasized about exploring the unexplored and challenging myself to surpass my limits. This program is a great opportunity for me to truly find myself and expand my values and potential.
"I think that Outward Bound would be a perfect fit for Fernando. He is very self-motivated and loves the outdoors. I think the challenge of such a program would allow him to develop skills such as leadership and problem solving that will serve him well as a future first generation college student.
In class we often talk about the importance of not losing that connection to the natural world and the consequences of doing so. He really listens, and I believe he is really seeking out a deeper connection. What better way to do this than spending part of his summer challenging himself in Outward Bound?"
I will be attending Outward Bound August 7th through August 16th. I am REALLY excited to have this opportunity for I know it is something I will really enjoy. Exploring new areas and being in nature is something so meaningful to me since it allows for me to reflect on everything in my life. I know this is going to be a challenging course since I have never spent 10 days away from home but I am ready to overcome that challenge. I am going to come here with an open mind and ready to face any difficulty.
I am also very excited to meet new people, which is part of the reason I chose this program. Not only do I want to explore, but also meet and greet people I have never met. This is something I am really looking forward to because normally I never try to go out of my comfort zone and talk to new people. This will be a great opportunity for me to do that and make good friends and possibly talk to them even after the program. Overall, I'm really excited for this trip because it is something i have never done and something I will remember for the rest of my life.
Fernando - I hope you have an amazing time on your trip! Outward Bound is awesome, and you'll carry the experiences you have on this trip throughout your life.
I was lucky to attend a high school that took all the students out on one-week long outdoor trips every year and I loved it! I want you to have the same experience. I hope you make new friends and grow your appreciation for the outdoors!
If my brother believes in you Fernando, so do I. Have fun, learn, and share what you experience with those around you.
