My passion is game design.
The day I discovered my passion for game design was when my mother bought me my first console and a video game called “Kingdom Hearts.” As soon I started playing, I was intrigued by both its beautiful design and the fact that I couldn't stop playing. The most important part was that it had a powerful message behind it – the power of friendship. This experience made me realize that I wanted to become a professional game designer so I can make other people happy too.
Heidy has talked to me about how video games are the newest and arguably the most important form of media for people of her generation. When a vast majority of games are written by young white men with a similar background, young women and especially young women of color can be excluded from this exciting new medium.
Heidy would be a wonderful candidate for she is very diligent and would really benefit from this program. I'm confident that she will continue to grow her knowledge until she can actually reach her dream of writing games to appeal to this underserved group.
For everyone that help me get into this amazing adventure at iD Tech thank you. My experience at the camp was incredible. I met new people and became friend with them. I also notice that I was the only girl in my group the rest consisted of boys, which made me uncomfortable, however that did not stop me from keeping me going and finishing my project. furthermore, I got to know what is it to be a game designer and the different types of apps that are use to make game function. The instructor was very helpful and gave me advice of ways to improve my project which was to make my own game and finish it at the end of the week. This program gave me a big mind set of what major I want to take in college and the job I want to work when I graduate. It made my passion of video game grow even more. And again thank you very much for you help. I really appreciated the help.
I'm going to be participating in the Id Tech Camps SF Bay Area this summer. I am really excited to be joining this program because I will be able to gain the ability to improve my communication with my peers and relate to each other as a big community. This Program will help me develop my imagination and express my ideas further more. I feel like there are not enough girls taking these sorts of programs and I want to be one that can prove girls that they can do it too no matter the obstacles.
Que se cumplan todos tus sueños, que hagas a tus padres orgullosos de ti, y que representes a tu comunidad. Bendiciones de mi parte.
Good luck, Heidy!
Yea! Heidy!
