Ashley's Story

I discovered my passion for writing and storytelling at a young age. I remember loving to write additional pieces of writings and showing them to my teacher in second grade. It was fun to do in my spare time. I decided to write about more creative stories. I started with short stories and often read them to my mom. I feel like my writing became more personal. The personal writings that I wrote were too personal for me to share, though it has helped me see myself in a different way. My creative writing has helped me in many ways too. I'm still expanding on them and loving them too.

I believe that attending Writopia Creative Writing Workshops will help me pursue my passion in writing and storytelling because I will be able to improve and hopefully feel more comfortable sharing what I want to share with others. Writing allows me to share my ideas and my emotions easily. I want to be able to express those ideas in a clear way. There are many different approaches to how something is shown with a whole group of people or just a single person. Showing the ideas I have in mind, the stories I create, and my view on certain topics shows who I am and tells others about my character. Being able to improve and explore is a great opportunity.

A Note from Ms. Touma, Ashley's Teacher

Ashley deserves an environment that is conducive to her creativity and to her sophisticated mind. Ashley is a leader in our school in part because, while others struggle through diverse issues, Ashley perseveres. She does not allow herself to be discouraged by the world around her. Instead, Ashley uses what she bears witness to to learn, inspire, and thrive. Ashley deserves a chance to dive into her creative writing with others who are as passionate about it as she is.

Ashley is an excellent candidate for Writopia Creative Writing Workshops because of her work ethic, her layered and magnificent mind, and her ability to express herself and the complex world around her through writing. Ashley sees writing as a community endeavor, not an individual one, but that writing community is exactly what is lacking in her life. A group of committed student writers eager to share, learn, and grow is not just what Ashley needs, it is what she deserves.

Citys ink Chapters

After atttenting my program, I was able to have sometime to do what I love within a group that had the same passion and interest. It was nice to see that there were people around my age that loved to do the same thing. I was able to be in a creative group who are all very unique and all wanted to get a story or point across. I enjoyed just about everything, from the games that made me curious to just that the commute there. Being able to show the creativity we have is amazing and a chance to seek opportunities that will make us proud of what we want to do or just simply love as a hobby. Thank you for giving me this chance and helping me shape my future of being a passionate author in this way. Thank you for opening my eyes a little bit more to becoming independent and happy with who I really want to become.

Ideals With Confidence

Excited and curious, I have become more motivated to pursue my dreams as I wait. Even days or perhaps weeks before my program starts, I started to gain more confidence in what I do and love. I no longer try to hide the passion I have for writing from my peers or from anyone anymore. I have realized how dedicated I really am to my passion and feel quite confident in my future. It's nice to know that I already have so much support for the choices I make for my future from others that surround me and that advocate for me. Thank you so much for this opportunity to go to Writopia. It really is a gift and your support will not be forgotten.
