My passion is playing the piano.
This became my passion when I got my first keyboard at the age of seven. I did not really know what to do with the piano, especially because I wanted to become a drummer. I started taking lessons at many different schools, which did not work for me because I couldn't read music. However, I had became too hooked on the instrument to give up on it. I watched the pianist at my church, Nicholas, play with passion, and I wondered how he became so good. He told me that he learned by ear, which then inspired me to listen to music and play it on the piano.
Attending Summer Pre-College at Skidmore will help me express my passion for the piano. Unlike other summer programs, this summer program will encourage me to improve. Being in a positive environment will allow me develop my passion for the piano.
"Delanisse is ready for college-level work. She has excelled in math, science, history, literature, writing, and every other elective she's ever taken at Achievement First. Furthermore, Skidmore is an amazing fit for a creative personality like Delanisse. She is a talented artist, a dedicated pianist, an expressive dancer, and an appreciator of all things 'outside the box.' At Skidmore, she will be able to take one academic course for college credit as well as an art class. Delanisse will be able to see what it would be like to pursue one or more of her creative passions at a college level."
This program has been going great so far. I have worked with cow eyes, sheep brains, mind control, and corrosive acids. Thank you to my supporters who helped make this possible. I completely love it here, and I'll be so sad to leave next week on Saturday. I have learned college study habits, how to be independent, and so much more. I feel like I know what I want to do when I get to college, and it's great thanks to this Summer Program.
This school year, I learned so much about myself, and about being college ready. Unlike any other school year, I've had more self-responsibility in completing assignments and self-teaching content. Additionally, I had to take up brand new responsibilities I've never taken before. I didn't ever think I would have my own syllabus and have to remember each night to look at it for homework. Neither did I think I would have to make my own appointment at the doctor. However, junior year introduced me to so much more responsibility that I feel more prepared than ever for this summer program. Overall, I can say that Junior year prepared me to be the independent, wise, intelligent, and responsible young woman I need to be in college. I can't wait to show off my skills at Skidmore this summer!
My son attends Skidmore (on scholarship) and LOVES it. I hope that you get to attend the summer program and fall in love with the school as he has.
