Wilnellie Medelis's Story

My passion is art.

In a time of grief, all I ever wanted was to be with my grandfather one last time. I grew up seeing him, he was always around. When I lost him, I felt as if I lost everything. My grandfather had true talent. He would draw and create masterpieces from "boredom." I remember once looking at one of his drawings and thinking to myself, "I wish to draw like that." And I tried, I kept drawing cartoon figures to start off. Then I moved here to United States. I took an art class in my high school and witnessed my drawings go from 2D cartoon chics to actual portraits. That feeling was the best emotion I recall feeling. Seeing my progress made me truly proud, and I know my grandfather would be too since he always supported me.
