My passion is Science and Medicine.
I am passionate about science. I discovered this passion in 4th grade doing science projects. My project was to find which material burned faster. I enjoyed it so much because I thought it would cool to know how things might turn out in the results. By the time I finished the project, I realized that I had so much fun doing it, and I wanted to do another one. Everyone had been preparing for this project and presentation for nearly a month, and I got the highest score. I felt some sense of shock and felt extremely proud. I then realized I had an interest in science. I enjoy science because it seems very interesting to me, and it can teach you so many things about how the world works and about yourself. As time progressed I realized I wanted to become a doctor, and I try to work hard each and everyday to achieve this goal.
Attending Summer@Brown will help me explore my passion for science and medicine. It will teach me skills and things I need to know to help me in my career. I would love this opportunity to learn so much about different varieties of my passion, and so I can obtain more knowledge about different things. I am genuinely seeking to challenge myself academically this summer, and I think this is the perfect place for me to do so.
Christine is a great candidate for Brown Pre- College Summer@Brown. She will greatly benefit form this program because it will give her the exposure she needs to be motivated and driven by her passion for science. Having early exposure will allow her to develop into more of a leader and give her the confidence she needs to persevere through such a demanding career. This opportunity will benefit her socially as well because she will be in an environment with like-minded individuals that will encourage and push her thinking productively.
Summer@Brown was an eye-opening and life-changing experience for me. I got to explore my passion with amazing , smart people at Brown University. I had tons of fun, met a lot of really cool people, and learned a lot. I got a chance to perform an abdominal exam and an eye exam! I also did a physical exam and took the blood pressure of a current Brown Medical Student. I got to dissect human bodies, and I even got to hold a whole brain, lungs, and heart in my hands. I learned so much about the human body and how it works. My teachers were so nice and very educated. They helped me a lot! I did a 10 minute presentation with my partner on a Case Study, and we got 100%! What I found challenging was performing an abdominal exam because there were many things to remember. I also found it challenging to type a 2 page essay every night, along with a packet and like 5 videos each night. Class was 3 hrs everyday which was kind of stressful. I actually got a grade for everything I completed, and got a 95% overall for the whole class. I am proud of myself for what I accomplished; even though I believe I could have done better.
Finally at Brown :) Excited for my first day of classes tomorrow !
I am excited to be going to Summer@Brown over the summer :) . I feel that this program will teach me a lot in terms of the career I want to purse when I get older. I am also looking forward to meeting new people there and learning from them too. I chose this program because it grasped my interests on the vast variety of subjects I can excel in, and it is located at one of the schools I am thinking about attending. I believe I can gain a lot from this program and apply it to my life and future career in medicine.
So excited for you Christine! Have fun!
