My passion is medicine.
I discovered my passion for medicine at the age of 10. I think that in life, everyone has a purpose and passion that they are meant to achieve, and mine is to help people with their health. I want to help those that are sick, injured, or in need. Summer@Brown will help me achieve my passion and become the future.
My attendance at Brown University Summer@Brown will allow me to be around fellow students with similar passions to come together and create connects. This will also allow me to prove that my story is similar to that of children who can get these opportunities, it shows that I'm as hardworking as them. At Brown University Summer@Brown, I will take classes specifically for biology and chemistry to improve my knowledge on medicine.
Divine has precisely the inquisitive spirit and unflagging desire to prove herself that I want my doctors to have-- she will not give up on a problem until it is solved. She'd be an asset to fellow Summer@Brown students because frustration does not get the better of her as it does for many other naturally bright students; her humble and friendly demeanor allows her to work with those who don't share those traits. In addition, by meeting students from other schools and states, she will be able to see what excellence looks like in other parts of America and she will build a network of kids outside our small pond; this can only help her contextualize her dedication and push herself even harder in her mission.
During my time at Brown, I was treated like a med student. It was an amazing experience to see cadavers and see how the human body needs every single vessels in order to properly function. I enjoyed the lectures that we had, because not only were they informative, but easy to apply in life. I was very pleased with the fourth day in which we were able to do respiratory, abdominal tests on medical actors. I got to experience being a doctor and it made me want to pursue a career in Medicine. I am so grateful for this opportunity!
