My passion is drawing.
In 3rd grade, I received an award for the best drawing in the class. After receiving this award, I continued to draw everyday on everything from my homework to extra pieces of paper that had a blank side. Throughout the years, I have significantly improved my drawing abilities with practice and determination.
Quazeek is a good candidate for Center For Architecture Summer Programs because he is an extremely passionate and gifted student. Our school does not have a dedicated arts program, and so by participating, he can experience art in a way that he hasn't before, allowing him to gain a deeper understanding of art, painting, and drawing.
On the first day of my program, we did a couple of icebreaker exercises to ease the awkwardness of the room and dove right into some the first techniques of measuring and mapping buildings onto paper. During the rest of the program we traveled all across New York City from Governors Island and the Swedish cottage in Central Park to the Washington Square Arch, and the World Trade Center. We drew and studied the various styles of architecture from French to Modern to Neoclassical. This program though being short, helped me improve my artistic abilities as well as meet actual architects and a civil engineer, and get a glimpse into what their jobs are like.
I chose to attend the Center For Architecture Summer Program because I see it as an opportunity to get a taste of how life as an architect may be as I plan on becoming one in the future. I am thankful for the opportunity to attend this program and gain an experience that I otherwise wouldn't have. Thank you to Wishbone and the generous donations from my donors.
Zeek- so glad to hear you're still refining your artistic skills. Keep up the good work! -Ms. Ross
I can't wait to see your creations! xoxoMsSolomon
Quazeek, this program looks like a great opportunity to build skills in, have experience with, and meet friends who share your love for architecture. Best wishes for an outstanding experience!
