My passion is basketball.
I have been playing basketball since I was 3 years old. My grandmother is responsible for my love of basketball. My grandmother signed me up at the Y every basketball season, tournaments, Town Travel basketball and baseball teams. I love basketball and my favorite NBA team is the New York Knicks. My favorite player is Carmelo Anthony and many people say I resemble him a lot. I am in my school's high school basketball team since freshman year because i am a hard worker in basketball and my academics. I play in the town park with my little brother who is also a good player. I have ten basketball and baseball trophies, have competed and won championship teams. I have a lot of awards that I am proud of since three and half years old. I want to play basketball for UConn one day. That's my dream college.
Any experience that will help Josh get ready for college is HUGE for him and his family. It is extremely important to keep Josh motivated and engaged through not just his passion of basketball, but his goal of going to college and getting a degree that will help his family into the future. I have never had a player who is as mature, responsible, caring, or hard working as Joshua. I know I am supposed to advocate for Josh, but he is a role model to me about keeping a positive attitude, being a genuinely nice person, and always working hard. His grandmother does all she can for him, but he could also greatly benefit from the help and support of others.
It's hard to believe, i was a fortunate Wishbone student lucky enough to attend a Pre-College Summer Program at one of the highest ranked colleges in the United States. This was my chance to learn how the process works at college. I strongly encourage high school students to apply for Wishbone Pre-College Summer Program. I had the opportunity for interaction with faculty and fellow students where i enrolled and completed a Medical Anthropology cohort certificate program. I also attended workshops all a regular school day. I would like to say to my Wishbone Sponsors it was an exciting and eye opener program learning more about the wide open opportunities at college. I enjoy learning of the study Education Abroad in 65 Countries, internships, volunteer placements. Whole new world to explore at college. Thank you Wishbone and my Student Wishbone Sponsors for your cooperation and understanding.
I feel so fortunate to have had the opportunity to attend the UConn Pre-College Program thanks to the Wishbone Program. You have given students the chance to experience things that usually are only for students who have the means. I met so many new people and learned so much. I hope more teenagers have chances like the one you gave me.
Keep up the great work! You sound like an inspiring, amazing young man:)
Good Luck!!!! Keep up the hard work!
Thank you coach Leghorn for your $100 gift. One step closer.
