Marcos's Story

My passion is helping sea animals.

I am passionate about helping sea animals and because, one day, I would like to become an engineer or a marine biologist. I like working with sea animals because I went to Catalina Island twice, and I had the opportunity to snorkel. It was a great experience because I enjoyed being surrounded by sea animals, and I had the need to do something great for them.

SEACAMP will help me explore my passion because I will spend more time outdoors, in the ocean, while helping sea animals. It will also help me explore my passion because I like swimming in the ocean. I enjoy studying sea animals because it is just amazing how they live, what they do under water, and how friendly they can be. Furthermore, participating in this program will allow me to strengthen my science, research skills, and individual exploration through the laboratory experiments that I will be working with.

"Marcos is an intelligent, hard-working, and committed student; these are traits that Marcos will contribute to SEACAMP I. Additionally, Marcos participation in SEACAMP I will allow him to grow as a student, leader, and future engineer. Marcos enjoys and is interested in environmental justice, education, and lab work; subjects that he lacks at Jordan High School in Watts. Giving Marcos as opportunity to participate in SEACAMP will allow him to step out of his comfort zone and motivate him to achieve in high school."

My Summer Program

Attending Sea Camp San Diego was an amazing experience for me. I did many activities that helped me realize that I want to become a Marine Biologist. I got to meet new people that are also passionate about becoming Marine Biologists. The activities were awesome. We went kayaking, snorkeling, boat trips, stand up paddle boarding, scuba diving, labs, and much more. The thing that I really enjoyed was meeting new people and interacting with them. I will never forget this awesome experience. Thank you for helping me pursue my passion!
