My passion is Creating Delicious Meals.
I discovered my passion for cooking at age 10 when my mom asked me to help her make rice. I was delighted! This was the first time that I had ever cooked and I loved it ! I loved the aromatic smell of the onions frying and the delicious taste of the appealing tomato sauce. After that amazing experience, I wanted to cook more often and told my mom that I would cook dinner for my whole family. She agreed because she believed that I would have an astonishing experience cooking. I decided to make Fettuccine Alfredo with shrimp. When I started frying the shrimp I noticed that I had not bought the canned Alfredo sauce. I called my mom and addressed the situation to her, she calmly said that I shouldn't worry. That I can just search Google or YouTube on how to make the sauce. It was astonishing! My family loved it! The fact that the sauce was so easy to make helped me realize that cooking is a powerful tool that inspires self confidence. My dad said that I was his little chef; since then I have been my family's little chef. My family loves my cooking so much that we don't go to restaurants anymore because I am the one cooking dinner. That is how I discovered my passion for cooking
I believe that if I join, Sur La Table Summer Cooking Series I will explore my passion because I love cooking new dishes, I love looking up videos about new and delicious recipes. Since my first time creating a meal by myself I have learned so much. I have grown as a cook by watching videos of other chefs creating master pieces. I adore watching the videos and trying the recipes and techniques they use at home. And I believe that if I join Sur La Table Summer Cooking Series I will learn so much because there will be a chef and I will be able to have some hands on work in the kitchen. Once I come back home I will be able to cook the food at home and I love seeing my family's faces when I cook something really delicious. I will come back home with more knowledge.
Clarisa is an excellent candidate for the Sur La Table cooking series because she is responsible, outgoing, collaborative and passionate about cooking. Not only is she an excellent student, who I'm confident would listen attentively during cooking classes, she is the type of young woman who will also reach out and connect with other program participants and put her own creative spin on the recipes she learns. Additionally, given Clarisa's personality, I think she is likely to share some of the techniques and recipes she learns at Sur la Table with other members of her family and our school community.
I would love to thank all of my donors for giving me the opportunity of attending Sur La Table cooking classes. I have learned a lot throughout my journey. We didn't just cook, we also baked delicious pastries. I also met many other teenagers that love to cook just like me. It was really fun!!
Clarisa - I can't wait to hear about (and maybe taste) what you learn to do in the kitchen this summer. I hope you keep pursuing your passions - as a chef and otherwise.
