My passion is sports.
I started playing sports when I was in 5th grade, and fell in love with soccer right away. My coach made me try out for the basketball team, and I then discovered another great passion. I've been playing basketball for three years, and over the years my team has won five championships in a row. My coach has become my mentor, and even after middle school we continue to stay close. My teammates have also become like family to me, and we are always there for one another and show constant support.
The Nike Basketball Camp will help me prepare for basketball try-outs next year at school and could give me a great opportunity to improve my shooting skills. This camp could also expose me to a new campus environment and give me insight to what college life is like. I would be so grateful to be able to continue to grow as a team player and improve my basketball skills. I know that I would also really grow from meeting new teammates and having an opportunity to travel outside of my hometown.
"Freshman year of high school is difficult for most students, especially having to balance that with sports or any other extracurricular activity. Kaelinn has shown persistence and motivation as she balances her academics, but still pursues her passion after school, or on the weekends.
Kaelinn is a great candidate for the Nike Basketball Camps because she is not only a great athlete, she is also a leader. Although Kaelinn will benefit tremendously from participating in the Nike Basketball Camp, I think the program will also benefit from working with Kaelinn. The following is a quote from her middle school coach: 'Kaelinn motivates other athletes, especially the quiet ones.'"

Not only will she be able to attend an amazing Nike Basketball camp, she will also be able to see what it's like to be a college athlete. Kaelinn has great goals for herself, and this opportunity gets her closer to achieving them.
