My passion is research.
I discovered my passion for research when I watched documentaries of famous scientists from Michio Kaku to Neil deGrasse Tyson since elementary school. I was desperate to explore museums throughout the San Francisco Bay Area to gain more knowledge. During my free time, I would go look for books at the library or do some of my own independent experiments like finding algae growth in different amounts of sunlight at home. I wanted to gain more knowledge in any branch in natural sciences and realized that I can learn more about the universe and answer unknown questions by becoming a researcher in the future. I attempted teaching and entertaining others with science, but realized that learning and research were what I loved most. I still continue to conduct my own research as a passion to improve myself and hope to, later on, further the knowledge of mankind.
Being able to Washington University in St. Louis Environmental Studies and Sustainability Institute will allow me to gain more opportunities that I cannot access at home. I will finally be free to work in an environment where I can work professionally and collaborate with others to expand and find solutions to problems that will be presented. By collaborating with others, not only can I prepare for my future, but I can also support others with similar passions and goals. This program will have additional ways to enrich myself and apply what I will learn towards my future goals to become a scientist involved in research and solve problems. In addition, I will obtain opportunities to work and learn in classrooms that will engage, challenge, and further develop my interest in learning and research. I also want to travel and experience living in a big city setting in the Midwest.
Maxwell is very passionate about the sciences. He watches science documentaries, goes to science museums, performs science experiments at home, and loves science in general. I know that he wants to pursue a career in science one day, and with a student like Maxwell, I am so confident that he will get there and be incredibly successful. Maxwell is an inspiring student because he is definitely pursuing this passion.
Maxwell is, simply put, just an outstanding student. He performed incredibly on the AP World History Exam. Hard work alone isn't enough to succeed on those exams; responsibility, organization, time management, and a high level of analytical intelligence are all required to succeed at that level. Maxwell possesses all of these qualities in abundance and he showcased his ability to write and think analytically on this highly difficult exam. All of these qualities prove why Maxwell would be an excellent candidate for the Washington St. Louis Environmental Studies Program. He is passionate about science, and when Maxwell is passionate about something, he excels at it. He will be an excellent addition to the program.
The program that I went to has not only explored deeper in a subject of my interest, but I also had the opportunity to learn skills such as professional presentation and networking during my time there. In addition, I also had the chance to experience living with other students and decision making while being self-dependent. I believe that what I've learned from my time there would make me more prepared and confident in myself for the future. I would like to thank you again for donating to my campaign so I could have something to do this summer.
