My passion is helping others.
How I discovered this passion I have for others would be when I was younger. I grew up on the bad side of town. It wasn't an option for me, it's just something we had to deal with because we really didn't have a lot of money to move anywhere new. I remember seeing a lot of crime watches down the block, a bunch of ambulances along with cops. The time where it really caught my interest was not to long ago around in SONO (South Norwalk). Someone committed suicide by jumping off the bridge of route 95. I remember my mom was at the stop light and saw that a lot of traffic was accumulating and when we passed by the crime scene area we saw a lot of police cars, the crime investigators, two ambulances etc. When I saw all of this with my own eyes it made me think. Why did he commit suicide? Did he get pushed off the bridge? Was he mentally ill? Was he having problems? Ever since that day my interest for criminal investigation has caught my attention.
Attending this college program will give me a better understanding of what my interests are and what the course is about. I've been having this interest for criminal justice and forensics so it would really help me see that if this is the right program for me or if I have the right understanding for these topics. Attending this program can also teach me a lot of new things that I haven't learned about and I hope to have a better understanding of criminal justice and forensics at the end of the program.
Juanita is a positive, self-motivated student who strives to uplift her classmates and support them emotionally even as she dedicates herself to improving her academics. This semester, she has taken it upon herself to trade her study hall for an academic resource class I teach in order to improve in geometry, a subject she can struggle in. Not only does she attend consistently and work hard to improve her understanding, she has encouraged several of her classmates to join them and encourages them to stay on task and complete their assignments. This has shown that she is capable of working with a wide rage of people and personalities and remain positive and focused. She would be a great asset to your program, as she already embodies the best qualities of those who wish to enter public service.
