My passion is Fine Arts.
Fine arts combine my passions for the arts and for inspiring people with art. Art provides a way for me to express my inner-self. Art became a part of me because art did not judge me for who I was as an individual. Since my art is a reflection of me, my artwork evolved as my inner-self evolved, once being dominated by dark colors and now emitting more vibrancy. I chose art as a major at my high school, and was exposed to different courses, including studio art, mixed media, and now art history. By expanding my art practice to include painting, drawing, crafting and sometimes printmaking, I constantly challenge myself with new art forms. I also seek to challenge viewers to find the hidden message behind my art, which is the best part of becoming an artist. Anyone can become an artist as long as they put their mind to it and challenge themselves and others. Life and art is filled with mystery!
Attending Skidmore Summer Pre-College will help me explore my passion and my art will benefit from the sense of community that this program is sure to encourage. I can learn from others, and work with them to understand their interpretations of art. Every artist has a different story to tell, and by discussing how others interpret this story, I will better understand how to convey my own story in my own art. Most of all, I feel that sharing the same passions and dreams as other artists will help me to deepen my understanding of self; this experience will be an awakening for my emotional and spiritual self.
Alexandra has a passion for art that is undeniable. She appreciates art in all its forms - painting, sculpture, song, dance, drama - but has a special passion for fine arts. Over the past two years that I have known Alexandra, I have seen this passion grow. Beyond just immersing herself in numerous fine arts courses offered at our high school, she also performed in the school's talent show. While I cannot say that I have any experience judging artistic ability, I am able to recognize Alexandra's desire to become the best artist she can be. She acts on every opportunity she finds to improve her knowledge of all art forms. Alexandra is very aware of the benefits of being a part of a community of artists, and is excited about the possibilities the Skidmore Summer Pre-College program holds.
