Lesly's Story

My passion is Basketball.

A way I discovered basketball was my passion was in the ninth grade. I really wasn't an athletic person during middle school but I played certain sports I wasn't that interested in much. In ninth grade I try out for volleyball but didn't make the team. Then on the day of basketball workouts I was kinda interested in it. I tried it for the first time and i wanted to try out and i was really into it and the week after that i was on the basketball team and I was really shocked. So that is why in high school I would be joining the basketball team. Also basketball is one of the things I am passionate about.

Attending Nike basketball camp- overnight will help me explore my passion because it will help me on my shooting, defense and being able to be better through my high school year. Also it could help me stay active during the summer. Furthermore I could help others to know how to shoot the ball and knowing the plays and how it works. Another reason is I would also want to play basketball during my college years and be a good player. In addition I also want a scholarship for basketball when I am at college.

The biggest obstacle i face is school because is a lot of work and balancing it out with sports. A way i work to overcome it is if im not doing well in a class i would miss practice and go to tutoring. Also i would have tutoring when i would have games but i usually wait until its over and then go to the game. But this year is really going to be a struggle because tenth grade is really a big deal for college so i would have tutoring, meet with a teacher or go to the library to do my work. That is how i would overcome my obstacle during school.
