My passion is biology.
I discovered my love for biology in 7th grade when my science class first started doing experiments and dissections. I still remember the first time we dissected frogs and a cow eye. What fascinated me was seeing how all the internal organs work together in creating such a complex organism. In my freshmen year of high school, biology came easy to me. I was always known for my intricate cell and DNA models. Learning biology did not seem like a class to me, but rather a hobby. My passion for biology was fueled even further by watching shows such as “Criminal Minds” and “Bones” where they studied human remains in order to solve homicide cases. This made me realize that biology can be used to help people in a wide variety of ways- from finding the source to diseases, to understanding life.
The Investigations in Bioscience and Biotechnology course in Stanford Pre-Collegiate Summer Institutes will further my passion for biology because I believe that the course will deepen my knowledge of science, medicine, and anatomy. I feel like attending this summer program will give me an idea of what it's like to work in a research environment and use lab equipments. I will be able to see the development of biology and witness how professionals use biology to help others in their job. I hope to learn from biology experts and be able to do hands-on experiments in a lab. Also, I hope to learn the different branches that come from biology from attending Stanford Pre-Collegiate Summer Institutes. I believe this course will give me an idea of possible dream jobs related to neuroscience, bioengineering, and general biotechnology.
Sophia has always shown great strength and perseverance. When she is given any project that is near and dear to her heart, she will focus and dedicate her self to its completion.
Attending Stanford Pre-Collegiate Summer Institute will be a great new experience for her. It will take her a bit out of her comfort zone and help her grow.
After attending Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies, I was left with long-lasting memories and new friends. Despite the program being over and living across the world from one another, we still manage to stay connected and reflect on fun times together. In class, I learned a lot about Psychology and wrote a research proposal for the first time. My presentation and essay writing skills improved drastically. Finally, I feel blessed and honored to be able to experience college life and challenge myself. Thanks to all the generous donors who made this experience possible.
Thank you all for your fundraising efforts this year! We are happy to fund the remainder of your campaign!
