My passion is technology.
I have always been interested in how robots are made and how they work. At first, it was difficult to learn about robotics because there were not any extracurricular activities at my school that involved robotics or technology. However, I didn’t let that stop me: I conducted research on how to program robots and where to find the materials needed to build one. My first robot was a Lego robotics set, which is what really furthered my interest for robots. Next semester, robotics will be provided and I will be part of the founding class. I am excited about being a part of the founding class and helping establish the robotics program at my school.
Attending ID Tech Camp will help me explore my passion because it will help me learn more about robots and difficult programming. The ID Tech Camps will also provide STEM lessons, which will help with robotics because it is very important to have skills in these disciplines. Upper-level college students, graduate students, and professionals in the fields of technology and digital media will teach me, and because of the small number of students, I will have a chance to learn and ask questions to the teachers.
Gaven is really interested in robotics, but he has not been able to pursue it because our school does not yet offer it as an enrichment. I have seen Gaven working hard to ensure that he has as much access to information and opportunities as he possibly can. I have seen him do his own research and advocate for using technology at school. In addition to pushing himself, he constantly support classmates to work towards the highest possible levels of mastery. I believe Gaven will gain a significant amount from participating at iD Tech Camp. His desire to learn and push himself to grow will lead him to get all he can out of this experience. I think that exposure to more people familiar with and interested in careers in technology will further his passion and allow him to learn so much more about his interests.
