Keisha's Story

My passion is Writing.

I discovered this talent in elementary school because I noticed I was always a lot more enthusiastic about writing and reading than math and science. I started writing goofy stories that were sometimes left unfinished, and then I got into writing scary stories, but those were a little cliche. It wasn't until my cousin passed away three and a half years ago that I really got into poetry. Whenever I was in a low mood, I'd write about whatever was in my head. Sometimes it would take hours to find the right rhyme, but not to brag, when the product was finished it was pretty good.

Attending Writopia Creative Writing Workshops will help me to explore my passion because it will be taking me out of my comfort zone. I will be in a place doing something I love with people I don't even know in a place I've never been. I honestly believe the best things to write about are experiences. It will help me know how to write different genres instead of just writing the ones that I am comfortable with. When writing poetry my style is to always make it rhyme, but I can learn how to write a deep message without rhyming.
