Ibeth's Story

My passion is medicine.

My passion for medicine became my dream when my grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer's. I remember seeing my family suffer as we saw her slip away from us and there was nothing the doctor or we could do. From that day on I knew I want to be the person to prevent these kinds of future cases because I do not want others to experience this kind of pain. Throughout the years my love for medicine has grown. Over the years, I’ve witnessed people around me become sick and, not being able to do anything to help them has always frustrated me. Knowing that there are deadly diseases still out there without a cure motivates me to want to be the person who can find a cure for them and save many lives.

Ibeth has opened up about her experiences within her family regarding health. Since her grandmother's passing, Ibeth has become determined to seek opportunities to expand her knowledge on the medical field. Ibeth has participated in volunteer opportunities in her community. Ibeth also excels in her science classes. She says that she finds it the most interesting as it is part of her field.

Biotech Update

Attending NSLC Biotechnology was really something life changing as cliche as it may sound. I stepped out of my comfort zone and did things i would have never done while I also made friendships with amazing people from all over the world. I learned things that i will later apply to my future career. We went on many field trips, learned a lot of important thing, have hands on opportunities and learned how to become a leader.

NSLC Biotechnology Pre-Attendance

I am going to be participating in the NSLC Biotechnology this summer. I am really excited to be joining the program because it will give me the time to learn about science which is an area I am very interested about. I feel that in school, there aren't many opportunities to get hands-on opportunities, so, for me, attending this program will help me discover if it is what I really want to do when I am choosing a major a year from now. I think that this program will help me develop my ideas and discover my passion.

I am looking forward to working with other people my age and sharing ideas and advice with one another. I chose this program because I have I want to enter the medical field and its science related, every since I was young I had always had a passion for science the way things worked and evolved pulled me in so I am happy that I will get to experience this program and learn new things.
