My passion is soccer.
I discovered my passion for soccer when I started playing more competitively in a travel team. When I started playing for my travel team I realized I wasn't getting as much playing time as I got when I played for parks and recs. I knew I was passionate about soccer because it hurt me sitting on the bench. After my first season with U11 travel I started to practice in the summer as much as I could so I could become better and start next season. When next Season came, I was also playing with my middle school. I had improved so much I became an important player in the middle school team my first year. The tingly feeling I got in my head from making good through balls and just playing good in general made me hungry for the sport. I realized I couldn't live without the sport.
Juan's passion is exemplified by his punctuality despite lack of resources to get to soccer training. He finds the time and resources to participate in out of season training exercises to improve his level of play. Persistence and perseverance have helped him become a better player and young man. By participating in the US Sports Nike Soccer Camp, Juan will help elevate his level of play and I truly believe that through sports and soccer, Juan will develop important life skills to help him beyond the field.
