My passion is business.
The concept of being a business person is all I have ever longed for since I was just a little kid. I have had numerous childhood memories, but one of my most distinctive ones is when I was nine. I was home alone one day, bored, and with nothing to do. So to get rid of my boredom, I took out some new clothes my mom wanted to sell and without her knowing, I hung them up outside on the front porch creating my first little tag sale.
Duke University is one of the most prestigious colleges in the world most notably famous for their illustrious MBA programs. I have no doubt that by attending the Duke Summer Academy for High School Students, it will help me pursue my passion in an immensely significant manner. It will introduce me to new concepts such as macroeconomics and deepen my comprehension about other concepts like the global economy, stock market, strategic entrepreneurship, and the laws of supply and demand. I am willing to do whatever it takes.
What sets Godofredo apart is his desire to learn and achieve, he doesn't accept the obstacles that are in his path and works hard to overcome them. For example, we do several camp outs each year and some of them require the boy or his family to pay the cost of the campout. We adult leaders will sometimes offer that the boys can do yard work for us to help earn the needed money. Godofredo has eagerly requested to do yard work for me a few times, and although the first time he came he didn't know how to do some of the work or operate the equipment, he was anxious to learn.
Hello everyone,
The High School Summer Academy at Duke University exceeded my expectations in multiple ways. I met people from all over the Globe including from Nations and Territories such as Brazil, China, Dominican Republic, England, Hong Kong, India, Italy, Puerto Rico, Saudi Arabia, and Taiwan. Definitely, one of the highlights of this program was the diverse culture and such is a memory that will last a lifetime. Academically, we were taught about important qualities we need to adopt to become successful entrepreneurs and the foundational principles that are involved when launching a start-up. We were separated into teams and each team was given the assignment to develop a business plan for a start-up that will work to address a Global issue by offering a product or service. At the end of the program, we presented our business plans in front of judges who critiqued it. The Duke University campus was amazing-one of my favorite places was the Perkins Library. For college, I want to attend Brigham Young University. However, Duke University could be an option when I pursue a Graduate Degree. This program helped me discovered strengths that I did not know I had and at the same time, it brought to light certain weaknesses that I need to work on and eventually transform into strengths. I express my gratitude to all of you who provided me with support in helping me attend the Duke Program which significantly contributed to my academic and Spiritual growth. As the title says, it was three weeks filled with memories that will last a lifetime.
This summer, I will be attending the Duke University Summer Academy Program for High School students. I would not be saying such sentence if not for the help and collaboration I have received from each and every single one of you in some way. Thank you, for your support. This is a tremendous and thrilling opportunity that has been presented and I am very well aware that such opportunity is the perfect one to gain valuable exposure to the high level atmosphere expected at a college and accelerate my educational development in the area of Entrepreneurship.
Aside from being my passion, the main reason I decided to enroll in the Global Entrepreneur program at Duke University is due to its unique focus on starting a business that will be influential in the world. One that will help solve prevailing global issues such as pollution and its effect on climate change and prevent the outbreak of future ones. I am eager for all the things I will learn at this program and once again, I thank each of you because what has been accomplished so far could not have been accomplished without the generosity, kindness, and support that has been so tangible through the help you have given.

You can do it! Education is so important to me. I don't believe to be educated you have to go to school, but I think you should take every chance you have to do so! Good luck!
