Jerel's Story

My passion is medicine.

When I was young, I've always known that I would want to help people profoundly or in a meaningful way. I've always wanted to apply myself more than just giving bandages or ointment to help those who have scraped their knees. I want some real experience that could help me further my blossoming career in medicine. I want to be someone in life, someone meaningful, strong, and brave, and that's ultimately why I find medicine so appealing. It embodies all of the skills and qualities that I can only hope to be.

Not only will attending Adelphi-Winthrop-University Hospital Summer Science Institute promote my young blossoming medical skills, but it will also promote me in character. Going forward, I really see this as an opportunity to explore a passion I already love profoundly. I'm looking forward to working with all the different aspects this program is going to offer to me and boost my medical knowledge. Most notably, I'm looking to build a community with my partners. Not only am I looking to really learn and take something out of this amazing opportunity, but I'm also trying to embody all the qualities that I can also take out of it. I want to go deeper than ever before exploring Medicine. Who knows, maybe one day i'll be one of the those prestigious doctors who help hundreds of lives a day. It would have all been possible because of this amazing program.
