My passion is engineering.
As a child, I was very enthusiastic about seeing new inventions and enjoyed wondering what made each object function. The need to understand each object led me to disband toys and try to rebuild them in order to understand their function. I still do this today with different objects, and I want to pursue engineering in higher education.
My passion for engineering will be greatly impacted by Boston University Summer Challenge. The program provides an outstanding opportunity for me to strengthen my understanding of what makes a brilliant engineer. Through projects and guest speakers, I will further develop my passion and gain new skills. I look forward to working hard and meeting others who share my interest. Ultimately, this program will serve as a great resource for moving forward.
"Manuel is passionate about engineering. He has a wonderful combination of intelligence and grit, and he will work his absolute hardest to make the most of this opportunity. He will undoubtedly bring his best self each and every day of the program. Beyond his commendable work ethic and academic aptitude, Manuel simply deserves this opportunity. Manuel has had to fight tooth and nail for most things in his life and has earned the chance to attend this very meaningful summer program. Going to Boston University Summer Challenge would mean the world to Manuel; it will be a transformational experience that he will never forget."
I'm grateful to everyone who supported me because I had the opportunity to attend Boston University for college seminars. I was able to take college seminars such as computer science and nutrition. Through my computer science seminar, I was able to determine that while I like programming, it is not a career I want to pursue. This also shed light on my aspiration for engineering, demonstrating that I want to continue pursuing engineering but not programming. I’m truly thankful for your support because I was able to figure out this valuable lesson. I’m also thankful to say that because I was able to have an amazing experience at BU, I have been influenced to apply to this college in my senior year. I say this because I was able have a different college experience from most, such as having the opportunity to be on a campus that had support all around campus but also the opportunity to explore city life. This experience also became more fantastic once I made great friend who I still keep in contact with. Furthermore, during this experience I was able to meet different people from around the world who had amazing experiences to tell. Many had different background and different challenges, which demonstrated to me that everyone from all backgrounds has faced adversity during their lifetime. This life lesson motivated me to further pursue engineering in hopes of making a difference. I’m truly honored to have had your support, thank you!
As I embark on this journey, I’m excited to know that I was granted an amazing opportunity by many individuals. Traveling away from home makes me very excited to experience an opportunity that may be similar to a college experience. Knowing that I will have to be independent is an opportunity that, although difficult, will help me grow because it will influence me to make unique decisions through my independence. I more than excited to travel and grasp an understanding of being hundreds of miles from my loved one. I hope to grow and learn from this experience that will undoubtedly make me very happy and thankful.
When I was in high school I did a similar program at another university. It was an inspiring experience that could not have happened without support from the people around me. I am now trying my best to pay it forward. Have a great time.
