Alejandro's Story

My passion is cooking.

Cooking has always been part of my life. Both of my parents have dishes that are a part of who we are as a family. My dad was known around our neighborhood for making tacos de cabeza (cow head tacos). My mom was recognized for desserts like jello with egg nog and bunuelos (a large tostada dipped in piloncio, which is similar to honey). Even when I take vacations to Mexico, my uncle Jorge always has me and my brother help him around his restaurant. I've helped with everything from the slaughter process to cleaning the pots and pans.

Attending Sur La Table Summer Cooking Series will give me the opportunity to develop my passion for cooking because I will be exposed to new techniques and meet people who share my love for cooking.
