My passion is engineering.
Ever since being a part of Girls Who Code, I have been interested in the STEM field. Since I am currently taking Intro To CS(Computer Science), I want to try something different, something more hands on and interactive with hardware. Education is a very important and decisive factor in my life. Especially considering the fact that neither of my parents made it to college, it is very important for me to take my education seriously. Deciding on a college/university that I am comfortable in is also an extremely decisive factor. I would like to figure out the type of environments that I am comfortable and uncomfortable with. Whether it is a school with a large or small campus and student body, or a school that is far away from my family, I would like to discover my preferences now. Pre-college gives me an opportunity to experience the college life and figure out what is most suitable for me.
UConn Pre-College Summer is the best choice for me since it can help me understand if engineering is the right choice for me. This opportunity will give me an idea of what working in an actual college classroom feel like. Attending UConn Pre-College Summer Program will help me with these decisions, which will prepare me for the future.
Christina is a great candidate for the UConn Pre-College Summer Program because she's already taking a hands on approach to figuring out which college to attend. As the first of her family to attend college, she's not taking the decision lightly, and really wants to see what attending a school like that would be like, and if it would be a good fit for her. Christina is extremely passionate about learning, and with this program, she'll get to see what it's like first hand to learn in a college setting, something no one in her family has done.
Happy to help contribute to Christina’s future.
