My passion is theater.
This became my passion when I started high school. Theater was my first elective, and it was mostly an improvisation class. This class completely changed my character in the most beneficial way. It made me brave and ambitious. I’m no longer afraid to get in front of people and act or give a presentation. Theater also taught me a valuable lesson: it’s okay to make mistakes.
I will develop my passion for theater by attending ACTeen Summer Academy because the program will surround me with other people who share my love for theater. I believe this can help me achieve my goals of becoming more creative, pushing my boundaries, and exploring other aspects of theater that I have not experienced yet.
"Destinee is extremely passionate about theatre. As a freshman, she was quite shy and hesitant in theatre class. Over the past two years, she has taken full advantage of the opportunity to work with an acting professor from NYU, and is now a leader in the program, teaching ensemble and improvisation techniques to 9th graders.
Having the ability to pursue her passion and develop her skills at ACTeen Summer Academy would be an amazing opportunity for Destinee as she enters her senior year."
Im so happy I got to experience an amazing two weeks at this acting camp. The two weeks I spent at the camp along with the classes I took and the people I met will definitely stay with me forever. From the first day I automatically made friends with the other students there, which made me feel less intimidated. I took classes on Speech and; Voice, Film Technique, Commercial Acting, and Improvisation. My favorite class was Improvisation because it was always the most fun, and I got to carry my skills I learned in school to this program. I'll especially never forget the relationships I made there with people from other states and even across the sea. I learned that life is better when you're doing what you're passionate about alongside other people with that same burning passion.
I cannot stress enough how thankful I am for the opportunity Wishbone has given me to attend the ACTeen August Conservatory. I feel as if I am finally starting a new chapter in my life, which is doing something that I am very interested and passionate about. This summer program right here will forever be the page turner in furthering my skills as an actress, and I could not be any more excited. I am especially excited for the improv class that they are offering because it's what I have been doing since I stepped foot in high school. I am also excited for the final production that will happen at the end of the summer program because anytime I get to act I become this new person. Doing this in front of people will help iron out the little stage fright I have left. What I hope to get out of this program is simply bravery. I want to be brave enough to act as outrageous as I want to. This program is going to be the thing that pushes me to do so.
