My passion is Forensic Science.
I discovered my passion for forensic science when I first started to watch the CSI and FBI shows. I was so engaged and satisfied when at end of the show they would reveal who committed the crime. Sometimes I would even try to figure out the crime myself. When I realized that I wanted to major in Forensic Science I joined the CSI summer Camp at The University Of New Haven. They expanded my mind in the science field and investigating. We had lecture every day about different topics. On the last day of class, we became a "crime solver" for the day. We went to a house and in every room there was a different crime. We had to go through every step like any other investigator and forensic scientist would on the job.
Tamaya's enthusiasm for learning and tendency toward hard work make her a wonderful candidate for the Saint Rose Pre-College Summer Experience. She is a pleasure to have in class, always the first with her hand in the air to explain why a change is an example of chemical change; she also truly wants to understand the material she learns, asking me to review balancing equations with her one more time so that she can understand it better, even though she can probably do it well enough to pass the test. I am confident that she would be an equally positive contributor at Saint Rose College. In addition, since she is so serious about her interest in forensic science, I think that Tamaya's typical -- which is to say, substantial -- enthusiasm and diligence would be multiplied at Saint Rose; she would make the absolute most of every opportunity she encounters there.
I can honestly say that attending this summer experience made my summer. I got to stay on a college campus with at first were a bunch of strangers from many different places throughout the country but after the 2 weeks, we all became brother and sisters, who would've thought that, after such a short time?! I was in the criminal justice program so we had gotten the chance to attend a trial for someone who had a DUI, we were able to visit the New York state troopers Academy where we watched a few videos based on what they would have to go through to become a full trooper like getting massed, having to practice their shooting at the range and the physical training it takes. At the college, we had classes from 9 Am till 4:30 Pm. We got to have a chance of finding our own fingerprints on materials that we touched, we learned about a lot of famous and unsolved cases throughout the country. The FBI came and talked to our class about the Bureau we had a few criminal justice professors come in and talk with us as well as a county court judge. We go to take a closer look at bullets from many different types of guns and learn about all about them. Our teachers were truly devoted to teaching us in just these few weeks. At the end of our 2 weeks, our last assignment that our teachers gave us was to go to a home and solve the crime that occurred there, which of course our teachers set up for us, once we finished solving the crime we had to go back to the classroom and put a presentation together about the crime scene that we were in charge of. So my group had the back yard and every person in the group had a specific job that they had to do, my job was to be the finger-printer and the evidence collector. On the very last day, our parents came and we presented all of our presentations to them. Every Day after we would have dinner almost every night the overnight counselors would have something planned for us to do. We have attended a play, went to a local arcade and played 2 rounds of laser tag, did trivia night, problem-solving, play hide and seek throughout our dorms, visited a very old ship from world war 2, had a movie night in the lounge of our dorms, went to a music concert, just chilled in the dorms with our roommates and sometimes we would order food from a local pizza shop or sandwich shop. If I could do this camp all over again with the same people I would do it in a heartbeat. They always kept us busy every day and every night. I truly enjoyed myself! Because I am going to be a senior, and attending a college the following fall I have definitely consider becoming a counselor at the Pre-College summer experience in 2018.
I will be attending the Saint Rose Summer College Experience. I am very excited to be going because I will learn a lot more about forensics and criminal justice. In my school they do offer a forensics class, but to only certain students, and hopefully I will be able to take the class next year. I am very excited to be staying on a college campus overnight and to also to be meeting new people my age with the same passion as me. Currently I am enrolled at a community college taking a criminal justice and film class. I absolutely love it and this is why I'm so excited to be doing this Wishbone program. Also I recently got accepted into doing a week long FBI training camp, and we will stay on the FBI campus overnight just like this program. Overall I'm a very interested in this field and I'm in many other programs.
We love to support girls in science. Enjoy your program. Rob Feldman and Adrienne Plotch
