My passion is fashion.
I discovered my passion for fashion when I was a young child. I used to play dress-up games online and my older sister used to ask me for advice on what to wear. From a young age I insisted that my mother let me choose what to wear. This love for fashion prompted me to apply in middle school for a fashion elective. In the 5th grade I didn't get in, but I kept applying and finally got in during the 6th grade. There I learned how to sew in zippers, make pants, shirts, dresses, and even crochet. The fashion teacher even taught us how to make culinary cakes. At the end of each semester the club puts on a fashion show where you model your own clothes, and during the show the teacher would give out an award: I won the award in 7th grade, which made me so proud.
Ashley identified a passion early on in her life and has had the natural motivation, strength and talent to pursue it. She has taken advantage of any opportunities that have been offered, such as joining (and excelling in) her middle school fashion club as well as taking courses in fashion outside the classroom at Parson's in New York City. Ashley has also had the maturity to understand that the better she performs scholastically, the more doors will be opened for her down the road. I believe this has contributed to her stellar academic record. She is an incredibly gifted young woman. Her written and verbal communication, her work ethic and her persistence even in the face of personal challenges inspire not only her peers, but many of her teachers as well.
I want to thank all my donors once again for this unforgettable experience. Being at F.I.T. helped me to get to know new people and it pushed me out of my comfort zone. I made friends from all over the U.S and people who live abroad.
I am grateful for being able to learn more about event planning. Although people might think that this is just a hobby, some people actually plan events for a living. I learned that event planning is like an art and more about my capabilities planning an event.
Thank you again to all my donors and to my advocate who supported me through this.
I very excited to be able to go to FIT. This is one of my dream schools, so I'm very interested in seeing what the campus is like. I am very thankful for my donors. I'm able to go do a course on Fashionable Affairs because of them.
I look forward to be being exposed to the fashion world and trying new things. I hope to make lots of new friends. In school we don't really have the time to be creative and express ourselves. This will help me grow as a person and find out more about my interests.
