Kishira's Story

Cheerleading is something that I’ve always wanted to do ever since I was little. Cheerleading is something that has brought great fun, memories, and confidence to my life. For example, my first year joining we performed at the homecoming rally, and ever since that’s been one of the most memorable things I’ve done in cheer. Another thing that was really memorable about cheer for me was when we got to go to cheer camp in Santa Cruz, and we stayed at the university. I really want to go this year but I don’t have the money to, which brings me to why I need this program’s resources.

I love Kishira. She is an amazing person who is not afraid to be herself. She stands out because of her loving personality and commitment to being true to who she is. This would be a great opportunity for her. I think the program would be awesome for Kishira because cheer is what she loves. Also, at UCA camps she can audition for All American Cheer, which is an honor given to the top cheerleaders at camp. Because she has so much talent, I want her to have that opportunity. I also know that camp will help her work on her other skills and help her to become a better leader.

Excited for my summer experience!

Something I'm most excited about attending cheer camp is meeting new people and making new connections with the others from different cheerleading squads. I'm also excited about spending time on the UC Santa Cruz campus because I really like the college cafeteria food. Some goals I have set for myself while I attend cheer camp is getting along with my teammates, and the other people on other squads. One challenge I may face during cheer camp is following people's directions closely because I tend to do things "my way" a lot. I think I can overcome this by listening closely instead of just to every other word that people say to me.
