My passion is writing.
It was after having fully immersed myself in the alternate worlds provided by fictional stories that I began to pursue creative writing. I remember opening up word documents and mimicking the plot lines and stylistic techniques used by my favorite authors, realizing that, through writing, I could recount personal experiences as well as make up entirely imaginary ones. It didn't take too long for it to become the most diverting pursuit of my life, or for me to feel relief at the fact that I no longer had to aimlessly think about what I wanted to be when I was older. It was settled.
Kimberly is an excellent candidate for Writopia Creative Writing Workshops because she is inspired and has proven through her school work that she can successfully manage and excel at a competitive and reputable program. I believe that Kimberly will be a great writer of our time. This opportunity will allow Kimberly to join a community of writers, to practice her craft and to cultivate the mentality and habits of a writer who produces quality work on a regularly basis. I believe this program can do just that for her.
I’ve just attended the creative writing seminar at Writopia, where in a small group of seven other writers (plus the instructor) I had the chance to write and share my work. Before this program I was a little worried that junior year came off too strong in terms of its impact on my ability to write creatively. During these two weeks, however, I not only discovered my love for the memoir genre (previously, I didn’t think my life was worthy of discussion, let alone glorification via the written word), but was comforted by the presence of like-minded people my age who are deeply passionate about creative writing. It can't go without mentioning that everybody was supremely well-read and talented—it felt right to be surrounded by people who were on my level. Moreover, what I had thought was an incurable bout of writer’s block was completely eliminated by the fun & diverse writing activities/prompts/games offered and initiated by my instructors. Because of those, I now have three works-in-progress that I’m particularly proud of and excited to continue writing for the rest of the summer.
Hi... thankfully I’ve been fully funded, which means I will be attending Writopia Creative Writing Workshops this summer. Since school hardly affords me the opportunity to explore creative pursuits, instead ensnaring my attentions to academics and the like, I feel like a program exclusive to fiction writing such as Writopia will tug at this shackle. Hopefully participating will also continue to cement my interest in creative writing as well as help in making a decision over whether or not I want to seriously delve into this thing for the rest of my life.
Have a great time this summer, Kimberly!

Kimberly is so deserving of this opportunity! She such a beautiful writer and artist!
Every one deserves to achieve their dream if they are willing to work for it.
Kimberly is an amazing student! She works diligently everyday and all around one of the nicest students I have ever taught. I never knew she was such a great writer so I am looking forward to reading what she produces.
I wouldn't be surprised that by the time I am near retiring from teaching HS English that I will be teaching one of Kimberly's short stories or novels in my class. :)
I trust Skyler when he says you are amazing and thus wanted to match his contribution. Good luck this summer!
I was going to give $50. But then everybody gave $50. And I want to be better than them.
Kimberly, I echo the words of others here. I'm grateful to have taught you even briefly and excited to learn of the writer you'll become!
Kimberly, you are such a talent! I can't wait for the world to see your incredible artistic expression as I have. Un abrazo fuerte :)
Kimberly! I believe in your talent and can't wait to read your first published book!!! So proud of your ambition and dedication to your passion!
Last summer, Kimberly enthusiastically told me about the incredible experiences she had at the Ithaca Writer's Institute. I enjoyed her short story submission, which she produced for their literary magazine while attending. Kimberly was very inspired by the work that she and her peers did collaboratively. She and fellow participants were not only contributors, but also planners and builders of the publication. I'd like to see her relive that experience this summer!
