I love sports management. Thats the reason why I choose to go to the high school I go to. I love networking and meeting athletes. I love networking because I like knowing that the person I meet today can help me tomorrow. That is the reason I choose to go to Ithaca college for sports management.
My dream school was Ithaca. I did so much research on Ithaca and I was excited when my dream school had my dream program.
I enjoyed attending Ithaca College. I learned so much in such a short period of time. I worked so hard and I am very grateful to be given the opportunity to go there. It wasn't rough being the only girl in my classes, but it was weird at times. I was in the Sports Management program. In the program, we covered a lot of topics. We covered the difference between a spectator and a fan, drugs and violence in sports, whether division 1 athletes getting paid is a good idea or not, race in sports, and gender in sports. I found the topic about division 1 athletes getting paid really interesting. Division 1 athletes receive full scholarship to play sports. I brought up the point that athletes are already getting paid because they most likely received a scholarship. The athletes do not receive any money for extra expenses, but colleges make millions of dollars off athletes and many athletes admitted to going to bed hungry. In addition, athletes aren't able to work because they have to go to practice. As you can see, this topic started a debate in my class. Another topic I enjoyed learning about was race in sports. Statistics prove that an African American male is more likely to be a successful dentist than to play in the NBA. I thought this was an interesting fact. Being at Ithaca College has helped me think about my future and what I want to major in when I go to college.
My first was the best day. I met so much people from all over the world. Some kids are from china, Paris, and other parts of the U.S.. The first day here I was looking for people who were in the same program as me but didn't find any females. The first day of class I realized I was the only female in sports management program. I should've known I was going to be the only girl because there are not that many females into sports. It wasn't hard adjusting to the fact I was the only girl because all the guys made me feel welcome and no one treated me different because I was a female. All the boys were sports fans and I proved I was into sports as much as they were . I was just interested in the business side of sports. The main reason why I joined that program was because my dream is to make women sports just as important and popular as male sports.
A couple of years ago I learned about Ithaca College from my older siblings. I love how Ithaca College is a medium size school in the suburbs. It is also a 4-year private school. I am excited about being away from home for 3 weeks but I am also nervous. I have never been away from home. I'm also nervous about being away from my twin sister. We have always been around each other and shared everything. It is the first time we will be away from each other. But being away from her will determine if we really want to go to different colleges. I will overcome missing her by doing something to get her off my mind or calling her a lot to catch her up on what I’m doing. Two goals I will set for myself during this program are to stay on the right track and to do everything I’m told to do.
Thank you so much for helping me accomplish my dreams. I really appreciate it so much. I know it would have been so hard for my parents to fund the money for me to go to Ithaca College. You've helped me out so much. Thank you.
