My passion is helping people.
I didn't notice that helping people was my passion until my friend passed away. In that moment, I realized that I spent most of my time trying to help my friends solve their problems. I also noticed that when someone needed to talk, they would come to me for advice. In November 2014, I decided to cut and donate my long hair to show my appreciation for my ability to help people who are not as healthy or fortunate. The fact that there are people who are not healthy breaks my heart and makes me want to do anything in my power to try to help them.
Attending BDC Children & Teen Program would help develop my passion by teaching me how to dance. If I learn how to dance, I will be able to better express my feelings for others. This could inspire people to try dancing to express their own emotions or to cope with what they are feeling.
"Audrey is not merely a 'good' candidate... Audrey is a GREAT candidate for the BDC Children & Teen Program. Audrey is intelligent, inquisitive, critical, responsible, and proactive. She cherishes her friends and school community and constantly thinks about how she can positively and productively contribute to her community. Audrey's awareness of her social responsibility is unique and special for a student of her age, and I hope we as a community recognize the importance of supporting her academic, artistic and individual growth through her participation in the BDC Children & Teen Program. I have no doubt that Audrey will take advantage of this experience and later implement what she has learned in her community.
Students like Audrey make me feel confident about the positive direction our society will move in, however, we must make sure they are given the opportunity to lead us. Audrey is already an excellent academic student. I am excited to see what she can communicate on stage to an audience."
My program is called Broadway Dance Center Children and Teen Program. In this program I will be taking ballet, contemporary, and belly dancing classes. I am so excited to attend these classes because I haven’t had any experience with any of these types of dances. Taking these classes will improve my posture and I will gain discipline. The classes seem so much fun and I am excited to meet wonderful people.
The dance program will keep me occupied for the summer and will provide a creative outlet for me. I am so grateful for this opportunity because it is the first scholarship to a program that I have ever received. This program will help me be more responsible because I will be expected to attend classes at certain times and it will be good for me to improve my time management skills. I’m very proud to be part of this program because not only will I be doing something I enjoy, but it will look good for my college applications and resume.
Hope you are able to enjoy it and further your dance career.
Audrey sounds exactly like a person who deserves my support. And so I feel comfortable giving it.
Audrey - congratulations on this accomplishment. It's so well-deserved, and I wish you luck! I'm glad (and not at all surprised) to hear you're still doing amazing things.
Audrey,
I know how proud Ms. O'Connor is of your talents and is so excited for you to continue to pursue your passions. I send my best wishes and look forward to the many great things you will accomplish!
