Abel's Story

My passion is technology.

I remember growing up in a house full of computers and its parts all over. I remember closets filled with computer motherboards, and a bunch of fans, and backyard full of empty computer cases. I remember strangers visiting my home to get their computers fixed by my big brother, who is a computer technician. It was when I was 6 years old that my brother started to teach me how to fix computers mechanically, treat viruses, and other things. The only thing he didn’t teach me was coding, and I want to get an exposure to coding. My brother has been a great influence of who I am and what I am interested in today. I dream to become a computer technician like my brother and also aspire to make it even further in the field than he did.

Abel's passion is computer technology. The iD Tech Camps Los Angeles will give Abel the tools he needs to become inspire, and motivate him to pursue a career in computer science. As a first- generation high school student, Abel needs to be surrounded by individuals who have succeeded in the computer science field in order to continue motivating him to pursue a higher education. I am certain that iD Tech Camps Los Angeles will empower him to become the next coder that his community of Watts needs.

Abel is one of the most dedicated students from College Track. He actively volunteers in our events, from freshman student orientation to our winter showcase events. He is one of my students who demonstrates resilience, commitment, and guts. I am certain that Abel will give his very best as a iD Tech Camps Los Angeles scholar.

Thank you all who helped me go to coding camp

Thank everybody that helped me go to coding camp. I learned a lot of new things to help me get closer to completing my computer science career. I learned new methods of coding using html and python. I also learned who to wire my code to a computer board and be able to make LED's light up and blink, but also to make my code into a drawing. The campus was beautiful and really made me consider going the extra mile to be a competitive student and make it to a college like UCLA. Thank you all for making my dream come true by learning more ways to code and more ways to be a electrical engineer.

Thank you Donors!

Thank you donors for all the support you have given me so I could attend iD Tech Camps Los Angeles. I am going to be participating in the iD Tech Camps Los Angeles this summer. I am really excited to be joining the program because it will help me learn how to code and learn how to build a laptop. The high school that I attend does not have a program that teaches me about coding or computer science. I think that this program will help me develop more skills which will help me later in my career.

I am looking forward to working with other people my age and sharing ideas and advice with one another. I chose this program because I have loved computers ever since I was a young kid and I helped my brother work on computers. I believe that participating in this program will help me with my career in computer science.
