My passion is discovering the potential of technology to better the lives of everyday people.
Growing up in this day and age, I have always been surrounded by screens, gears and all sorts of technological gizmos. While I, like many, have taken technology for granted most of my life, I started to learn the massive impact that technology can have once I entered high school. Since then, I’ve been passionate about learning the great strides that technology has made and the great strides that it has yet to make to improve the world we live in.
I believe the Summer at Brown program will provide me the opportunity to understand how ideas develop into a real outcome. Working under the guidance of the brilliant minds at Brown University will help me learn how to research the fields that I am interested in and, more importantly, how to turn those ideas into something that I can be proud of.
"Ryan is incredibly inspiring because he is one of the hardest working kids I have ever worked with. Not only does he work hard for himself, he also works hard for others. He is an active member of the Interact Club, which is all about community service.
Summer at Brown is an incredible fit for Ryan. As he mentioned in his essays, Ryan is very passionate about technology. This seems like a great opportunity for him to be exposed to some serious, college-level science. Ryan is the kind of student that could go on to become an incredible scientist at a top flight college, and this program could easily get him started in that direction."
After two weeks living on one of the best colleges in the nation and over 18 hours of travel on the way home, I can truly say Summer @ Brown 2015 was an experience I will never forget! For five days a week, I took an economics class that taught me informed financial decisions that I will need to take in my future. Although my class was at 8:30 in the morning, the lessons I learned and the energy of the class is something that I miss the most about this program.
However, with all this work, I also made sure to include my fair share of play! Over those two weeks, I made meaningful friendships with some of the brightest people I've met. Highlights of my program include exploring Providence late at night, afternoon Quidditch games, daily pool tournaments and a weekend trip to the beach at Newport. The memories I made are ones that will always be special to me.
I just wanted to thank everyone who helped me attend this program, once more. I greatly appreciate your generosity in giving me one of the best summers I've had!
With my departure for Providence in less then a week, I cannot describe my excitement right now! Next year, I will be applying to colleges myself, and what better way than to spend my summer at an actual college? In the future, I want to major in Computer Science and minor in Business, so I could one day start my own start-up. From Summer @ Brown, I hope to learn about some of the business aspects of running a company while meeting like-minded individuals along the way!
Best of Luck !!
