Chrisllin's Story

My passion is rock music.

I didn't really discover this passion for music but my parents did. They signed me up for a music program called Mark Murphy's Music in South Orange. I really enjoyed it so I continued and did this program for a year and I really liked it. I even had a recital and played the song Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morrison with my music teacher and was really happy that everyone else enjoyed it. This year I hope to expand my horizons so that I can be come a better musician.

Attending the School of Rock will help expand my horizon so that I can become a better musician. This will also enrich my love for music so that when I hear a song on the radio I can play it automatically with my guitar. This program will help me in the future and now, that is if I am accepted, and will help me understand what music really does for the community and my family.

"Chrisllin is an unstoppable force in my history class, it's not surprising to me that she is seeking to pursue a passion for a musical and historical interest combined. She isn't able to take any music related courses here at North Star so her passion has not been fully realized, but she certainly never stops when it comes to thinking about other cultures and new and innovative ideas."

My Rocking Beatles Camp Experience

Thank you all for letting me be able to attend this camp in New York City called the School of Rock. I enjoyed being able to learn a concerts worth of music and learn about my newfound love for Beatles music. I didn't really know a lot of Beatles music and even if I knew some of the songs, I didn't know they were from the Beatles. This has inspired me to learn more music than just the music I hear on the radio. Your support was what made this possible and once again thank you for this opportunity.
