Mikayla's Story

My passion is softball. When I was little, I always played basketball, but I was never really that good at it. During my freshman year, I decided to try a new sport out, so I tried out for the softball team at my school, and I made the junior varsity team. At first, I was second guessing my decision, but after I started going to the practices, I fell in love with the sport. I was actually very good at it and even played a couple varsity games my freshman year. During my sophomore year, I started on the varsity team. Another thing I liked about the sport is that there are many different positions you can play. For example, I played all outfield positions and catcher.

Attending US Sports Nike Softball Camps will help me learn more about the game of softball, and it will also help me work on my skills. There are things that I know I haven't been taught that I need to work on, and I feel that this camp can help me work on those things.

Mikayla has worked hard to participate in sports throughout her high school career. She has never been able to participate in elite programs away from home, but she is eager to do everything in her power to make college athletics an option for her. US Sports Nike Softball Camps will build on her self-discipline as an athlete and will give her the experience of working with peers she does not know and living away from home.

My Update

Leading up to the weeks before going to camp I can feel myself starting to get more and more excited about it. I'm excited because I know I'm going to learn close to all the techniques I've wanted to learn for a long time now, things that I never had time to learn during my softball season. I am also looking forward to making some new friends and hopefully even a few mentors that will be there to help me, maybe even stick around once I go to college. I also got some brand new equipment that I can't wait to break in during camp. I am really happy that I am getting this opportunity.
